I agree with other reviewers re: gameplay. The S2 gave me confidence in power and control. However, the first one shipped to me had a hidden manufacturer's defect (noticeable when held to a light). Replacement was handled very professionally by Pickleballdepot.ca. The defect was a stress fracture at the cut edge on the inside of one of the plastic playing surfaces, at a corner. It didn't affect immediate use of the S2 but may have crept through the surface so I asked for, and received from the staff at Pickleballdepot.ca, a replacement. I loved the second S2. But about 3 or 4 months out, a corner gave way: the playing surface at an upper corner on my forehand just kind of collapsed around 2 or 3 of the waffle core hexagons supporting it. It also appears that the edge band has (or had before I tried to push the surface back into place) a tiny buckle in it. Maybe the corners of the paddle are too tight a radius for the given mix of materials, maybe not. I'm not sure what it was. Since the damage was within only about half an inch of the edge, I played on. Then just the other day I blocked a hard drive on my backhand and the other surface cracked and failed in a similar way, at the same corner, but on the opposite face. I guess that the weakened state of the first face and edge band may have something to do with the second surface also failing directly behind the first failure. When I purchased the S2, it was still a new design. Being thicker than most, my guess is that the particular combination of changes necessary to make the thicker paddle while keeping the weight down has led to some initial manufacturing snafus. I have enjoyed playing with it and, to be fair, the rest of the S2 still does its job even with the two cracks. Having returned the first one at the outset, I'm a little skittish about trying a third S2 but I still have confidence in both Pickleballdepot.ca and Selkirk. I hope it's been my bad luck and maybe I’ll give it another go yet. Thank you.
Great paddle! It gives me more control over shots. I can receive a hard shot and return it softly or bang back and forth. This is definitely an upgrade from my beginner Neo paddle which I loved. As my game improved, I felt it was time to invest in ugraded paddle. The S2 midweight (7.8 oz.) is thicker and has a shorter handle than the Neo paddle. I'm getting used to it and it has definitely given me more options in my game. Today I bought an Epic Prime paddle as well so I could have 2 options when playing in tournaments... waiting for the delivery!
I’ve only had the opportunity to play once with but what a difference....I seemed to have more control of my shots. I don’t regret bying this paddle
Bought a light and a mid weight paddle. I prefer the light model for the control. No problems returning a ball having a strong effect, the paddle surface is very efficient. Selkirk is certainly a choice to consider.
Working well, shipping was fast and had tracking number. Paddle has excellent control while dinking, great power and decent spin. Not as much spin as Gamma Voltage but wayyyy more control.
I purchased the S2 a couple of weeks ago after using another companies product for the past two years. I can't believe both the power and control that you can achieve with the S2. I absolutely love it and have been telling other players to try it. I am totally happy with the paddle and with the shorter handle I no longer have to move my hand up the handle as it is just the right length. Well done Selkirk!
Albeit I find the handle a tad short, I love the feel and soft touch of this paddle. I will adapt to the short handle. The benefit of more contact surface is worth it.
I received my new Amped S2 in a very timely manor Since receiving my new paddles I've played approx. 6 times with it. I am extremely happy with it. This is the second Selkirk paddle i have purchased and I will continue to use Selkirk paddles.
Like it , only the Handle Length a bite shorts.
Wonderful paddle! Great for dink shots and has lots of power for the hard shots. Really glad I have it!
...the Selkirk S2 Amped turned into the best paddle i've had...control is much
better and it seems to me less force is required to achieve the
same effect....P.Ball.Depot service and promptness has
Well constructed, great graphics, awesome hand grip, staff were helpful and the delivery was very prompt. Nothing to fault so far.
The paddle feels good in the hand, I ordered the mid weight and it was a good choice for me. Ball strike is very positive and action on the ball is immediate. Great paddle!!
This paddle is really affective around the net, blocking drives and providing a lot of finesse, while still enabling a powerful drive shot. Just love it!
Very good paddle but not for me I Like to play with Graphite paddles.
Pickleball Depot is the best place to Buy.
Cara Thank you very much for all your help.
Bought the S2 amped lite for my wife who has the Selkirk S1. She played with it for a couple weeks and will not go back to the S1. More pop than the S1 but with the same or better ball control.
Really appreciate the improvement in power and control, as promised. Also, Pickleball Depot service is first rate.
I am very satisfied with the feel of the paddle and with the accuracy of it.The paddle feels very fast, also very comfortable to play with.Have no problem playing for 4 hours.
I was using the S1G+ and I was very happy with it but the weight was a problem. My arm was getting sore after a couple of games. I also tried the S1G but it was to light. The S2 at 7.7 onces is the best match for my game. More control, more speed. A little lest power.
This paddle has a completely different feeling than the two previous paddles I have used. It has taken a few outings to get used to it. It is light but gives good power and (the reason I acquired it) it gives good spin when desired. It is advertised as power and control and I would have to agree. Since I have fairly small hands I like the short handle, it fits me well.
In my opinion my new 7.6oz Selkirk Amped S2 is the best paddle I have played with. I tried the heavier S2 and I loved all of the benefits of the amped technology but I felt slow and my shoulder would be sore after 3 hrs of PB. The new paddle feels fast, still gives me tons of power and my shoulder is fine. I didn't think half an once would make a difference but I was wrong. The lightweight amped Selkirk's are going to be a huge sellers.
Love this paddle. Most people will hqve lots of fun with these paddles. Esp the S2. It will take all beginners and intermediate players game up a notch, or 3. Easily. The controlled pop makes for easier more consistent play at the net, and from the base line.
I've played with many paddles. Engage, Selkirk, paddletek.. S1c composite is all pop, less control. Played with s1g, good control /feel, but no pop, which is normal for all graphite carbon paddles. Bought the engage elite pro. Similar to s1g but preferred. More feel. Have the 8.4 Oz epic amped which is a great paddle.
This new light 7.3 Oz S2 is easily the most consistent paddle I've played with. It has the biggest sweet spot, great pop, good feel, good control, and lighter great net play. Beginner and intermediate players stay away from net dink play because finesse is difficult with an unresponsive (graphite/carbon) paddle. Amped paddles solve that problem and is a huge confidence booster. Highly recommended as a great all around intermediate paddle. And let's face it, most of us are intermediate players.
Both rackets are amazing, better than we anticipate
Without question this paddle has improved my finesse game around the net. But what is most striking these days is the new confidence
I feel when I am playing with the paddle.
Combining the paddle with the seamless online purchase experience I had with Pickleball Depot rates 5 Stars- on both accounts.
I've had this paddle for six weeks and really like it. It has a very large sweet spot, is good for control, and also for power. It dampens the vibration a lot more than other paddles I've had, and doesn't aggravate my sensitive elbow. It is also quiet, almost sounds a bit muffled. A lot of people have tried it out, and all have liked it. Some have ordered one for themselves.
I have used this paddle for a couple weeks now and my tennis elbow almost gone. The dampening this paddle provides along with a gel grip is amazing. I can easily transfer from driving power shots to slowing it down with redirection dinks. And when needed I can produce a formidable amount of spin to throw off my opponent. The only downside so far is I have a hard time playing consistently with it because others want to demo it haha!! This is money well spent.
Hey "Pickler" and "Ninja", better get ready for "The Machine"!!!!
There is more "pop" for sure, but less feel.
