SO. This is looking good for the short game. I have improved my span and now get many more balls at the net, both sideways and at the pickup points.
However.. I miss the weight of my old racquet at 8.5 oz. I have to swing harder when picking up low balls near the mid.to.back court.
I don't have any problem missing balls because the racquet is not as wide.... a few maybe on overhead smashes...but I've only had it for about 25 hours playing.
I may add lead tape to the sides..I'm a reasonably good tennis mens player at 72 years old, and did this to my tennis racquet for power.
My opponents have asked me not to spin the ball when playing then. I haven't lost that at all.

My favourite paddle to date
Reality is I am an equipment geek regardless of what sport I play and the new passion is Pickleball. In the last year I have tried 6 different paddles, three of them being Selkirk. In my opinion Selkirk makes the best quality paddles in the sport. My SG1(7.6oz) was really good, my Amped S2(8.2oz) was excellent and felt like it gave me more power while at the same time added touch. But the S2 felt a bit heavy and I felt i was slower the NVZ. So I thought I would give the Amped Maxima a try since I could get it in a 7.8oz weight and still get all the benefits of the Amped features. Well lets say it was love at first play. Possibly because of weight but also I believe because of design i felt faster at the line on volleys. My ground strokes were crisper and my smash was ridiculous, every shot felt effortless and I had excellent control. As much as I love this paddle it is not for everyone. You have to get over the fact that it is long and skinny. Many players when they pick it up wonder how I can hit the ball with such a skinny racket. It was my only concern when I first opened the box but I have found the perfect balance and huge sweetspot have made my shots more precise and I have missed no more shots than Idid with the S2 or SG1. Bottom line I love, love, love this paddle and highly recommend this any player that is okay with being different and loves to WIN.

Selkirk Maxima Amped
This is a good paddle but not great . It is a quality paddle , handle was the right leagth and circumference for my hand , very nice grip , paddle surface played and provided no more spin then other
paddles I have used . I found the extra thickness of this paddle's core did allow for a better soft game but at the cost of power for your service game and passing shots . In all it is a good paddle just
not all it is hyped up to be .
